After months of struggling with distant schooling, social distancing, online businesses, etc., finally, a piece of good news for everyone in the form of a vaccine. But now the big question is should children be vaccinated with covid 19 vaccine. As we all know what we have been going through from the last of 2019 till 2021, there was a lot of pressure on the medics to form the vaccine and get the cure of this deadly virus. Commendably the number of companies working on the vaccine was many, but just two got approved for the same.
Government Information
After so many discussions, the government concluded they would launch the Covid-19 vaccination drive on 16th Jan and deliver adequate doses of the two safe vaccines to all the states and Union territories. There might be a shortage of this vaccination, which is why the formation of separate priority groups got necessary. The people at high risk would be kept in group 1 including, medical staff and frontline workers. People above 50 years or with adverse medical problems will be in group 2 and so on. People who have recovered from the covid-19 shall also be vaccinated, with a covid-19 vaccine for further prevention.
regnant women and lactating women should not be, administered vaccine shots as they have not been a part of the clinical trial. Both the doses of the covid-19 vaccine should be the same.
After the vaccine is shotted, it would take approximately two weeks for the development of antibodies. There are possibilities of side-effects as any other vaccine that might include pains, mild fever, swelling, etc.
Children and Knowing
There are hospitals asking people to volunteer for testing off the covid-19 vaccine to get to know in case of any side-effect uncommon to the human body. Now, the actual point is for children getting them or not?Surely! There is no such vaccine developed for children so, they are likely to get the same vaccine as adults maybe, with a different dosage, but it is not clear neither mentioned anywhere yet. The vaccine will not only protect people from being ill but also from the spread of the virus. If the vaccine will prevent only some percentage of infection, and not completely, then there is a need for vaccination, for all, either for an adult or child.
As per researches, children are no mass numbered spreaders of the covid-19, but they can be infected pretty well, although the cases of being very ill or deaths in children is low. Still, there can be children with medical history who can be affected by the virus, worse enough. Some children were reported Serious Inflammatory Condition after covid-19.
Delay in children vaccine would be a delay in recovering from covid-19 because there will still be things such as schooling or activities that will not go on as per normal circumstances. If they get the vaccination, side effects will be natural, just like adults. Vaccine developers need to include children in their clinical trials, because of which they can gather age-specific information on the immune system, preventing diseases, effects.
How are trials decided?
The trials are usually done in stages, starting with middle-aged, healthy adults. Once it is confirmed these, are tested on older people and younger ones. Several covid-19 developers have included children in the testings.
The Pfizer vaccine can be engaged for children of age 16 or older. Many other developers had, noted to give vaccination trial to as young as a 6-year old but have not been yet, approved. Moderna approved for people of age 18 and above. Before testing it on children, it is mandatory to get permission from their parents, informing them about the risks included in this testing.
Now, we should provide all the support to the medics for the trials and help the community. Each and every vaccine trial is monitored here and there, by higher authorities, having strict protocols to stop the testing in-case of safety issues. After the testings, the tested people get a text message asking about their side effects to make the vaccine safe for mass. After months of trials, almost 1.1 million people in the US got vaccinated but, only a handful of them had allergies or other kinds of symptoms, which means the majority is safe and sound. In case, of allergy, it will show effects within 15 minutes to 1 hour of the vaccination shot.
Side effects of chemicals
The FDA also recommends you should not take the Pfizer vaccine if you’ve ever had a severe reaction to any of these ingredients:
· Messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA)
· Lipids ((4-hydroxybutyl)azanediyl)bis(hexane-6,1-diyl)bis(2-hexyldecanoate) 2 [(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-N,N-ditetradecylacetamide 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3- phosphocholine, and cholesterol)
· Potassium chloride
· Monobasic potassium phosphate
· Sodium chloride
· Dibasic sodium phosphate dihydrate
· Sucrose
The FDA similarly recommends avoiding Moderna’s vaccine if you’re allergic to any of its ingredients:
· mRNA
· Lipids (SM-102, polyethylene glycol [PEG] 2000 dimyristoyl glycerol [DMG], cholesterol, and 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine [DSPC])
· Tromethamine
· Tromethamine hydrochloride
· Acetic acid
· Sodium acetate
· Sucrose
Children well-being
If your child has a safe opportunity to get the covid-19 vaccine shot now, you should surely secure them with it. Go to a family doctor or a medical history doctor of your child to prevent them from any types of allergies. Children usually shake off the coronavirus without much problem, but if there is prevention to the virus that can destroy their immunity they, should probably get it safely. It is as same as any other virus-like polio, swine flu, bird flu, etc. took so many years for a vaccine.
Due to so much improvement in medicals, this covid-19 vaccine came out to be quick. Even the medical experts are not sure that, should children be vaccinated with covid 19 vaccine.
Although with a few side effects, but these are caused, in all of them. For example- in a tetanus vaccine, you get swelling and fever, in a DTP vaccine there, is fussiness, low appetite, fever, etc., in a smallpox vaccine children, suffer from red and a sore arm, low fever, etc. and these are bearable as a matter of fact. The Covid-19 vaccine will too have such normal symptoms, yet it’s not tested on children of age 12 or below 12 years so, it’s not considered to be safe still, there are chances of a sooner known factor of symptoms in children.
Even if children do not get adverse effects of coronavirus, still they can become carriers for their parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc. which can get dangerous for the elderly because of aging and medical issues, they can get severely ill, it’s important for schools to still maintain social distancing and strictness for masks till an approved vaccine for children is authorized by the authorities (government). As per the researchers, they’ll soon be providing the vaccines for the children after the trials, till then they should be safe and taken care of. They should be educated as to how can they, master social distancing, for the betterment of society.
Toddlers are best to be kept, at home with full precautions, no outsider should possibly be in direct contact because the infection varies in symptoms for 3-4 days. Social distancing is still important till the mass is vaccinated with the shots.
#Note: We provide multiple subject tuitions which our provided courses section here.
Summary
Parents should wait till the completion of trials to get their kids vaccinated as we might not know the side-effects instantly in children as there are fairly few trials on children of age 12 or below. Educate your child about social distancing and I hope for the best for you and your family!
